About Dr. Youssef
I have been a Naturopathic Doctor (ND) since 2011, but my journey to this profession began when I was a teenager and I experienced the effects of naturopathic medicine first hand. I was amazed that even the most minor of my symptoms was a significant clue that could be addressed in gentle, yet effective ways that ultimately led to a deeper level of wellness than I'd experienced before. I was empowered with a new understanding of how my body functioned, by the fact that so much of what could be done for my health was within my own hands, and how my body had the ability to heal itself with just a nudge in the right direction from nature.
Now, as a licensed Naturopathic Doctor, I am passionate about providing this same gentle, holistic, and effective health care to support my patients' innate ability to heal.
To help my patients reach their wellness goals, I first employ physical exams and lab tests to detect illness and imbalance. I then address concerns holistically and promote greater vitality with any combination of clinical nutrition and supplementation, lifestyle counselling, Traditional Chinese Medicine and acupuncture, botanical medicine, and bio-identical hormone prescriptions.
My areas of special interest include women's health across the lifespan, with a focus on hormonal concerns, fertility, prenatal and postpartum care; as well as digestive health, mental health, cardiovascular and metabolic concerns, healthy weight management, pain management, and pediatric care.
With degrees in both Kinesiology and Nursing, and experience working in hospitals, community outreach clinics, and private health care settings, I have a broad and balanced perspective on health, fitness, and our healthcare system. It is my belief that medical professionals should work together to help their patients reach a higher level of health; therefore I work with my patients, their medical doctors and other care providers to complete the circle of care, rather than function outside of it.
I am licensed by the College of Naturopaths of Ontario, and a member of the Ontario Association of Naturopathic Doctors (OAND) and Canadian Association of Naturopathic Doctors (CAND). I am also a Registered Nurse (RN, inactive)!
When I'm not practising Naturopathic Medicine, I can be found spending time with my family and friends, getting outside for a healthy dose of sun and fresh air, enjoying a good workout, or trying out new recipes and cooking up a storm in my kitchen!
